Wolfeboro, NH – After 38 players began the day, 16 will be advancing to the New Hampshire Amateur Championship at Bretwood Golf Course in July from Lake Winnipesaukee.  Those with a score of 84 (12-over par) and under qualified.  The standout for the day was Taylor Simpson (Candia Woods Golf Links) who finished at one-under par, 71.
The day began with a slight drizzle at the scenic Lake Winnipesaukee Country Club which provided a tough test for those attempting to qualify.  Simpson carded three birdies and took advantage of the par 5, 13th hole by making eagle on his way to an impressive round for the weather conditions and difficulty of the golf course.  Most notable about his 71 was that it was his first time seeing the course.
Among those who also qualified for the championship proper was Lake Winnipesaukee member, Ben Ekstrom who shot 81.  Following behind Simpson was Rick Moreau (Sky Meadow CC) with a 76 along with Brennen Gillis (Souhegan Woods GC) and Peter Fuller (Kingswood GC) both with a 78.
The 114th New Hampshire Amateur Championship sponsored by Audi of Nashua will be contested at Bretwood Golf Course July 10-15.  The next qualifier will be at Atkinson Resort & Country Club on Wednesday, June 7th.
