Laconia, NH –  Chris Houston, Laconia Country Club member, and Matt Paradis, Concord Country Club, will square off in the 36-hole final match at the 113th State Amateur Championship, sponsored by Audi of Nashua.
In the Quarterfinal round, Matt Paradis defeated 2010 State Amateur champion, Nick MacDonald, 2 & 1.  Paradis went 1 up after the second hole and never looked back.  While he did get to 4 up after the 8th hole, MacDonald brought it back a little but ran out of time.  Moving on to the Semifinal match, Paradis faced Jim Cilley where he beat Cilley 3 & 2 after gaining a 1 up lead after the first hole.
Chris Houston faced off against Cam Salo in his Quarterfinal match and it was clear that his local knowledge came into play.  Houston defeated Salo 4 & 2.  His Semifinal match was a little trickier as he and Ryan Kohler took the match all the way to 18, the first match of the day to reach the 18th hole.  Kohler hung onto the lead for the majority of the round, but it slipped away on the 15th hole where Houston brought it back to all square by making birdie.  Houston went on to win the 17th and 18th hole to win the match 2 up.
Paradis, who plays golf for Southern New Hampshire University, recently won the 2016 Player’s Invitational at Baker Hill Golf Club and looks to capitalize on that momentum.  Chris Houston, hometown golfer drawing a large crowd has played great, consistent golf all week.  Both players are looking to grab their first State Amateur Championship victory.
The Final Match is a 36-hole match that will begin at 7AM on Saturday morning.
The New Hampshire Amateur Championship is a six-day event, beginning with 36-holes of stroke play qualifying on Monday and Tuesday to determine the 64 players who will be advancing to the match play rounds beginning on Wednesday.  One round of matches will be played Wednesday, two rounds of matches will be played both Thursday and Friday, and the championship concludes with a 36-hole final match on Saturday.
