Leavitt and Paradis Lead After Round 1 at Mt. Washington

Bretton Woods, NH – Defending Champion Joe Leavitt (Atkinson Resort & CC) and 2015 Player’s Invitational Champion Matt Paradis each shot 69 during the first round of the 112th New Hampshire Amateur Championship. A total of eleven players broke par on the 6512 yard layout at the scenic Mount Washington Resort Golf Club.

In addition to Leavitt, two other former champions broke par during the first round as Michael Martel (Crotched Mountain GC) and Jim Cilley (Lochmere CC) each shot 71. Martel won the 2013 Championship at The Golf Club of New England, while Cilley won the event in 2011 at Nashua CC.

Nine-time Champion Bob Mielcarz (Concord CC) shot a one-over par 73 and is tied for 20th. He will tee off at 8:00am on Tuesday with former Champions Dan Arvanitis (Derryfield CC) and Craig Steckowych (Portsmouth CC) who each shot 75 today.

The top sixty-four players after tomorrow’s eighteen holes will advance to the first round of match play on Wednesday.
