New Champion Crowned at NH Women's Mid-Amateur: Kat Bordeau Hoists the Trophy for the First Time

Moultonborough, NH – It was the Kat Bordeau show for both rounds of the New Hampshire Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Ridgewood Country Club.  Starting the day with a five-shot lead, Bordeau ended the tournament nine shots ahead of the next competitor, firing 73-77 to finish up eight-over par for the championship, claiming her first New Hampshire Women’s Mid-Amateur title.  This is Bordeau’s second win of the season, having captured her first at Lochmere Golf & Country Club in the Women’s Senior/Legend/Classic event last month.

While the second round was not her best of the tournament, she hung in there well enough to capture the victory.  She started the day smooth and steady with four consecutive pars until she rolled in her lone birdie of the day on the par-3, 5th hole at Ridgewood.  She followed it up with a bogey but remained at even-par on the round at the turn.

“I ran into trouble right off the bat on the back, I went bogey-bogey and then I settled down a little bit”, stated Bordeau after her win.

She got herself to two-over par on the day and four-over par for the tournament after her two bogeys to kick off the back nine of her final round.  After two more pars, she made another bogey on the par-4, 14th hole and made triple bogey on the 17th hole, getting to six-over par for the day.  Rolling in her par putt on 18 with just enough to get it there, Bordeau sealed the deal for her first New Hampshire Women’s Mid-Amateur victory.

After her first round, she knew she wanted to hit fairways and greens and she would be okay.  Finding more trouble in the final round than she wanted to, she said, “My drives were okay, but I didn’t feel like my irons were spot on.  I had a bunch of one-putts to save par.”

While it may not have been her best round, she was able to pull out the victory, winning by nine strokes.  Finishing in the Runner-up position is Julie Rivers who had the low round of the day among all competitors in the field.  Rivers shot 76 (+5) in the final round to find herself in second place, just ahead of Pareena Deva who started the day tied for second place with June Ferland.

The NHGA would like to extend a thank you to Ridgewood Country Club for hosting the New Hampshire Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
