Red Ryan Tournament Finds Permanent Home In NHGA Junior Tour Schedule

Concord, NH- New Hampshire Golf Association is excited to announce an addition to the Junior Tour Schedule. The 61st Historic Red Ryan Tournament, sponsored by  The Dan Duvall Charitable Fund, will now fall under the administration of the NHGA and the NHGA Junior Tour. 
In 1958, the head golf professional, Red Ryan and Reverend Monsignor, Colin MacDonald came together for the first Red Ryan Tournament. Since that year, the tournament has always been welcomed and held at Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, NH. The rest is history.
Over the years, The Red Ryan Tournament has produced some well-known New Hampshire Golf names, such as PGA Professional, Scott Stallings.  Stallings has collected three tour wins, The Greenbrier Classic in 2011, The True South Classic in 2012, and the Farmers Insurance Open in 2014. 1975 Red Ryan Champion, Craig Steckowych, who is a two time New Hampshire State Amateur Champion and two-time Mid- Amateur Champion. Another name to sit in the Tournament’s history books is Kirk Hanefeld. Kirk holds three Red Ryan Champion titles, along with his three State Junior Championships, two NH State Amateur Champion titles, and is also a New Hampshire Open Champion. 
It is the hope of the New Hampshire Golf Association Junior Tour to continue the tradition of the Red Ryan Tournament, and continue to test the junior golfers of New Hampshire. The NHGA Junior Tour is excited to add have the event take a permanent place on its schedule this year and in the future.
The annual tournament this year, will be held July 24th- 26th at Derryfield Country Club, and registration is now open to all NH Junior Golfers with an active GHIN at a New Hampshire Club for the cost of $25. There are three player divisions: Mite, ages 13 and under, Junior, ages 16 and under, and Intermediate, ages 19 and under. Depending on the number of applicants, separate male and female divisions may be established, however historically all divisions have been coed. All flights will consist of 16 participants and the number of flights in each division will be based on the number of participants registered.

About the NHGA Junior Golf Tour
Founded in 1998, the NHGA has strived to create a junior program that creates playing opportunities for players of all skill levels and abilities. The program is structured to provide opportunities for junior golf development through fair competition, while encouraging proper course etiquette and good sportsmanship through playing and enjoying the game of golf.  The Junior Tour is open to girls and boys up to the age of 18 and is broken down into two divisions, the Birdie and Eagle divisions.  The NHGA Junior Golf Tour is sponsored by the Thorpe Family Foundation.
