Stratham, NH – As the Audi of Nashua State Amateur Qualifiers continue, twenty-one more golfers are advancing on to the Championship proper being held at Hanover Country Club next month after taking on the challenging Golf Club of New England.  Of those twenty-one golfers, Nate Choukas (Hanover CC) came in with the low round of the day, 78.  Choukas will look to use his home course advantage at the 115th New Hampshire Amateur Championship.
With the 7,000-yard Golf Club of New England track ahead of them, golfers faced a tough test as they stepped up to the first tee.  Among those moving are Justin Grondahl (80), Ryan Thorpe (85), and Reno Fuller (87), all are Golf Club of New England members who used their local knowledge to get through to the Championship.
Steven Schnobrich (Pease GC) also made it through the qualifier with a score of 83.  Schnobrich has some familiarity with Golf Club of New England, having played it a few times prior to the qualifier; he knew going into it that a score in the high 70’s or low 80’s was going to be key to making it through.
At the turn, Schnobrich was six over par, right where he needed to be.  Heading into the back nine he talked about his mindset a little bit saying, “I was just trying to keep my scores down and pick a few up on the back.”
Keeping it consistent, Schnobrich played his back nine to just five over par to finish with an 83 which was right around the middle of the pack for those who qualified.  He mentioned, “Getting a feel for the course gives you a little more of an advantage.”
Those who ended up qualifing shot 90 or better for the day.  Those twenty-one golfers will look ahead to Hanover Country Club next month for the Audi of Nashua New Hampshire Amateur Championship where they will compete against the top amateur golfers from around the Granite State.
