Concord, NH –  It is with much excitement that the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) announces that XFINITY and Northeast Delta Dental will be sponsoring the 2017 New Hampshire Open Championship to be contested at Manchester Country Club in Bedford, July 26-28.
This will be the first time in almost 50 years that the New Hampshire Open is returning to Manchester Country Club and the NHGA is thrilled to be adding more buzz about the Championship by having XFINITY and Northeast Delta Dental come on a board as sponsors.  The support from the two well-respected companies will help the NHGA guarantee at least a $35,000 purse with the low professional set to receive a minimum payout of $8,000.
Crystal Carroll, Manager of community relations at Northeast Delta Dental says, “As a wellness-focused organization, we enjoy sponsoring golf tournaments, road races, walks, and other community events like the New Hampshire Open that allow us to promote the importance of good oral and overall health.  We are proud to partner with the New Hampshire Golf Association to continue this important annual event in the state.”
NHGA Executive Director, Matt Schmidt expresses his enthusiasm of this announcement saying, “The New Hampshire Open is one of the marquee events on the NHGA tournament schedule. The Open has a special place in the history of New Hampshire golf and today’s announcement about the support of both XFINITY and Northeast Delta Dental is a monumental step to making the Open one of the top golf tournaments in New England.
“We anticipate a drastic increase in purse money available to professional players and the support of both companies will enable us to provide a true championship experience for all of our players. We’re excited about enhancing the Open and opening an avenue for NHGA members to learn more about two great companies. This is truly a special day for golf in the Granite State”, continued Schmidt.
This Championship attracts professional and amateur golfers from all over the country.  Some of the notable past champions of the New Hampshire Open are Grayson Murray, who now competes on the PGA Tour, and Geoffrey Sisk who has played in seven U.S. Open Championships and two U.S. Senior Open Championships.    The 2016 champion, Chris DeForest, won in a three-hole playoff at Owl’s Nest Resort & Golf Club after carding 10-under par for the championship.
The New Hampshire Open presented by XFINITY with support from Northeast Delta Dental is a three-day, 54-hole stroke play championship.  The field is cut to the low 40 players plus ties after 36 holes.  1969 was the last time Manchester Country Club hosted the event and 2017 will mark their 10th time hosting it.  The Donald Ross designed course has been going through renovations to add new tees and restore bunkers; the professional and amateur golfers that descend upon the course in July will be in for a true test of ability.
