Three New Hampshire golfers have been selected to represent the Granite State at the 2016 USGA State Team Championship next week at the Country Club of Birmingham in Alabama. New Hampshire residents Jamie Ferullo, Ryan Kohler, and Cameron Salo accumlated points over the past two seasons to earn selections from the NHGA. Kohler will be returning to the State Team Championship after playing on the 2014 team, while Ferullo and Salo will be making their first appearances.

The event is a three-day, 54 hole stroke-play championship with the two lowest scores from each round counting towards the team's total. Each of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia are eligible to participate in the event. Teams are made up of no more than three amateurs who are not an active collegiate golfer. More information on each player can be found below.

Jamie Ferullo (Rochester CC) -  Jamie Ferullo has been the only player to advance to the Quarterfinals in each of the two last New Hampshire Amateur Championships. The twenty-six year old defeated defending State Amateur Champion Connor Greenleaf in 19 holes to advance to the Quarterfinals at the 2016 State Amateur Championship. The Rochester resident defeated nine-time New Hampshire Amateur Champion Bob Mielcarz on his path to the semifinals at the 2015 New Hampshire Amateur Championship at Mount Washington Resort GC.

On represeting New Hampshire on a National level, Ferullo said " Playing for Team New Hampshire in a USGA Championship is a tremendous honor. As an amateur, the ultimate goal is to play in a USGA Championship. To be able to represent New Hampshire in my first USGA event is very exciting."

Ryan Kohler (Hooper GC) - Ryan Kohler has been one of the most consistent golfers in New Hampshire over the past few seasons. The thirty-two year old will be the veteran of Team New Hampshire, competing in his third State Team Championship. The Chesterfield resident was the 2015 New Hampshire Mid-Amateur Champion, and was the medalist at the 2014 New Hampshire Amateur Championship. Kohler also qualified for the 2012 USGA Amateur Public Links Championship. Kohler won his first NHGA Championship in 2012 by claiming the Stroke Play Championship at Green Meadow GC in Hudson.

On returning to another State Team Championship with some experience, Kohler said " To have a chance to represent New Hampshire with two great players and friends is exciting. It will no doubt be a memorable week for the three of us. We're all looking forward to playing in a USGA event and enjoying the exeperience that comes with it. It's a unique opportunity to have a chance to represent our state and hopefully play well."

Cameron Salo (Bretwood GC) - Cameron Salo has been one of the more steady players in New Hampshire over the last two seasons. Salo earned the 12th seed at the 2016 State Amateur Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals. At the 2016 Stroke Play Championship he finished T4 with a 2-under final score.  Cameron advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2015 State Amateur. Salo will be the youngest player on the State Team this season in his first year of eligibility for the Championship since college. Salo played in college golf at Johnson & Wales University in Miami, FL. This will be the twenty-three year-old's first appearance in a USGA Championship.

Salo is excited to show how New Hampshire players can play at a national level: "I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity - especially coming from a small town with not many golf courses around. I feel like I have more to play for and nothing to lose representing New Hampshire. Being from a small state in the northeast makes you want to prove that New Hampshire has a lot of guys that can play at a high level. "
