Becker Returns to His Roots, Set to Take on Role as NHGA Tournament Director

January 6th, 2021

Concord, NH – As we usher in a new year, the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) is thrilled to welcome their newest staff member, Todd Becker.  After 20 years, Becker returns to the New Hampshire Golf Association, where his career in golf began, this time in the role of Tournament Director.  He will be tasked with managing all championships, qualifiers, and one-day events put on by the NHGA throughout the golf season and will be the point person at the NHGA for inquiries regarding the Rules of Golf, course marking, and volunteer recruitment and retention.
A graduate of Plymouth State (‘00), Becker has a long history working in golf administration, starting here in New Hampshire as the USGA PJ Boatwright Intern for the NHGA from 1999-2000.  From there, he became the Junior Golf Director for the Indiana Golf Office from 2001-2003 and shifted to the Golf Association of Philadelphia as their Junior Golf Director from 2003-2004.
Becker commented on what it means to return to the NHGA saying, “Having seen how far the organization has come over the years, I am excited to be part of NHGA again.  It means a lot to me to be able to bring my career full circle and get back into tournament administration here in New Hampshire.”

NHGA Executive Director, Matt Schmidt, is thrilled have Becker joining the staff, stating “When Todd initially expressed an interest in returning to the NHGA, it seemed like a natural fit.”
“As we had deeper conversations about what we were looking for, it became evident that despite being away from the game for a number of years, Todd’s passion for golf had not diminished,” continued Schmidt.  “He’ll be a valued member of our experienced team and our tournament players should be thrilled at his addition to our fantastic NHGA staff.”
Although Becker left the golf industry for some time, he remained involved with the game.  After returning to New Hampshire, he became the Chair of the Manchester City Men’s Golf Tournament in 2015 and joined the Intervale Country Club Board of Directors in 2018.
“After working in the corporate world for over 16 years, I was ready for a change,” stated Becker.  “Golf tournament operations has always been a passion of mine as I have always volunteered my time with the Manchester City Golf Tournament and also with Intervale CC. I felt this was the right time for me to get back into tournament operations and I am excited it is with the NHGA.”
Becker will begin his position with the NHGA on Monday, January 11th.  He says, “I am most looking forward to working with everyone at the NHGA in furthering the organization’s vision for the future.  New Hampshire has some great golfers and courses, so I am excited for a competitive tournament season.”

Todd currently resides in Manchester with his wife, Janet, and three daughters Ava (12), Allison (11), and Ashley (8).
