Club and Mixed Club Team Championships End In Success for Abenaqui and Eastman Teams

Manchester, NH- On a brisk spring day, 33 teams took to Derryfield CC to take on the 2021 Club Team and Mixed Club Team Championships.

For the Club Team Championship, it was a race to the end, but the Abenaqui Team of Fletcher Sokul, Jared LeClaire, Rich Stover, and Robby Brown took the title after winning a playoff against the Nashua Team of Eric McCoy, Jaron Slattery, Jon Dyer, and DJ Petropulos.

Both the Abenaqui and Nashua teams had solid rounds, each carding a team score of ten under par, 130. Multiple birdies were carded through the entire round on both sides, which is what landed the two teams the top spots on the leaderboard. During the playoff, the Abenaqui team carded a team score of 8, and the Nashua team scored a 9, giving Abenaqui the 2021 title.

On the Net side, the Canterbury Woods Team of Darek Robertson, Garrett Cole, Jake Castricone, and Scott Underhill prevailed to take first place with their team score of net sixteen under par, 124. The group carded two key net Eagles during their round, propelling them into them to the top. The momentum was not lost on there as the team carded 9 net birdies to finish out their round.

The Club Team Championship is in it's sixth year on the NHGA schedule. Teams of four male golfers all from the same New Hampshire golf club compete in a two best ball of the four person team with prizes awarded in both a Gross and Net division.

In the Mixed Club Team Championship, 8 teams stepped up to the tee for a chance at the title. The Eastman GL team of Darcie Lucero, Devin Lucero, Paige Macleay, and Nicholas Macleay were able to capture the top spot with their team score of eight over par, 148.

The team started strong with a key birdie on the second hole from Paige Macleay, which helped ramp up the team momentum. All team members equally contributed to their success on the course, with key pars and three birdies carded throughout the round today.

On the Net side of the Mixed Club Team, home course knowledge prevails as the Derryfield team of Jennifer Mansfield, Doug Williams, Cindy McLaughlin, and Rick McLaughlin took the top spot with their team score of net nine under par, 131. The Derryfield sealed the deal with an impressive 14 total net birdies, proving that they belonged on the top of the leaderboard today. It was a complete team effort as each team member contributed as least one net birdie to their total round score.

The Mixed Club Team Championship is in it's third year on the NHGA schedule. Teams of two male golfers and two female golfers all from the same New Hampshire golf club compete in a two best ball of the four person team with prizes awarded in both a Gross and Net division.
