Home Team Takes the Trophy in The First Mixed Club Team Championship

Manchester, NH- In the first ever NHGA Mixed Club Team Championship, hosted at Derryfield Country Club, the home team of Tara Watt, Liz Lafferty, Patrick Mahan, and Dan Arvanitis came out on top. The team shot a total four under par, 136, in the best ball male and best ball female of the four-person team format.

The Derryfield team held their own at the top, with their score beating the field by 19 shots as the next team finished at 15 over par. Watt, Lafferty, Mahan and Arvanitis all seemed to contribute to the team’s strong finish. Tara Watt led the team shooting a 70 during the round on her own ball, including an impressive Eagle on number 16, par 4. Patrick Mahan also contributed 2 key birdies to the team on holes 4 and 17.

With a Net score of 14 under par, the Loudon Country Club team comprised of Valerie Guy, Mary Fontaine, Denis Guy, and Joe Fontaine found themselves at the top of the Net leaderboard. In second place on the Gross side was the Den Brae Golf Course team of Linda Pletch, Brenda McGee, Gary Mercier and Brian Stewart, who finished with a team score of 155, 15 over par. Brian Stewart helped his team hold on to second place with 2 key birdies on holes 9 and 17.

This is the first year for the Mixed Club Team Championship on the NHGA schedule. The event had a great turnout and will continue to grow. Teams four, two males and two females, from the same New Hampshire golf club compete in a best ball for males plus a best ball for females from the foursome with prizes awarded in both a Gross and Net division.
