Junior Tour Kicks Off at Hoodkroft

Derry, NH- With the sun shining strong and temperatures reaching close to 90, the start of the 2018 NHGA Junior Tour season has officially been kicked off with the Hoodkroft Junior Open at Hoodkroft CC. A packed field complied of players in all five divisions moved along the course and started the season off strong. 
In the Eagle A Boys Division, which comprises of ages 15-18, Gunnar Senatore, of Amherst Country Club, was able to take the title of Champion with his six over par, 78 round today. He started his round strong with four straight pars, and then was able to card a key birdie hole the 10th hole to help boost him to the top of the leaderboard. Matthew Hauschild, of Concord Country Club, who was only one stroke behind Senatore, also had a strong round at Hoodkroft. Hauschild was able to card an impressive three birdies through out his round to help him shot a seven over par, 79 round.
In the Eagle B Boys Division, players ages 13-14, Jack Pepin, of Atkinson Resort and Country Club, was able to take the Champion title after a two hole play off.  It was a well fought round of six over par, 78.  Bryce Zimmerman, Nashua Country Club, also shot a 78 round. The two entered a play off, and Pepin came out on top, sinking a putt for par on the second hole. Both players carded a key birdie during each of their rounds, and were able to hold the top spots on the leader board by 4 strokes. 
The Eagle Girls division is for players that are 14-18. An impressive round of one over par, 71 earned Shivani Vora, Portsmouth Country Club, the Champion title in the division. Vora lead the group by 9 strokes. She started her round strong, carding a birdie on the first hole and was able to keep her focus strong and her momentum going, carding four more birdies, for a total of five before finishing her round. 
While the Eagle divisions all play 18 holes, the NHGA Junior Tour Birdie Divisions only play nine. The Birdie Boys division is for players age 12 and under. Adam Songini, of Campbell’s Scottish Highlands, was able to take the Champion title in this division with his score of sixteen over par, 52 for nine holes. He was able to card an impressive birdie on the 9thhole to end his round strong. The Birdie Girls Division is for players ages 13 and under. Madelyn Savary, Beaver Meadow, was able to take the title in her division. She was able to take the lead by 8 strokes with her score of a 58 for the nine holes.

About the NHGA Junior Golf Tour
Founded in 1998, the NHGA has strived to create a junior program that creates playing opportunities for players of all skill levels and abilities. The program is structured to provide opportunities for junior golf development through fair competition, while encouraging proper course etiquette and good sportsmanship through playing and enjoying the game of golf.  The Junior Tour is open to girls and boys up to the age of 18 and is broken down into two divisions, the Birdie and Eagle divisions.  The NHGA Junior Golf Tour is sponsored by the Thorpe Family Foundation.
