Registration Changes Coming for State Amateur Championship

January 21st, 2020

Concord, NH – With New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) tournament registration slated to open on February 3rd, the NHGA would like to make everyone aware of the changes being implemented for the New Hampshire Amateur Championship presented by Audi Nashua.  New for 2020, all Qualifying and Exempt Player registration will have the same registration deadline of June 15th, one week prior to the first State Amateur qualifier of the season.  The NHGA will not accept any entries following the 5PM registration deadline on June 15th.

The 117th New Hampshire Amateur Championship presented by Audi Nashua is being played at Nashua Country Club, July 6-11 with six Qualifiers on the schedule to determine the final field.  This year’s Qualifiers are being held at Rochester Country Club (June 22), Montcalm Golf Club (June 22), North Conway Country Club (June 24), Keene Country Club (June 24), Beaver Meadow Golf Course (June 28), and Amherst Country Club (June 29).  All Qualifiers will have the same registration deadline of June 15th and it is important to note that those players who have earned an Exemption into the State Amateur also have until June 15th to register if they wish to compete.  No late entries will be accepted.

This decision to change how State Amateur registration is conducted was recommended by the NHGA Rules and Competitions Committee and approved by the Board of Directors in late 2019. The single deadline will allow for more transparency in determining qualifying numbers and will assist in the administration of qualifiers and the championship proper.

While the New Hampshire Amateur Championship deadline is one week prior to the first Qualifier, players registering for other NHGA events should check the individual tournament information page for specific deadline dates and times.

The New Hampshire Amateur Championship presented by Audi Nashua is the Granite State’s premier amateur golf championship open to male golfers with a handicap index of 12.0 or lower.  Those advancing to the championship proper from qualifying or with an exemption compete in 36 holes of stroke play competition to determine the 64 players that move on to the match play rounds.  The champion is decided with a 36-hole final match.
