Seventeen Punch Their Tickets to New Hampshire Amateur from Qualifier at The Oaks Golf Links

May 28th, 2019

Somersworth, NH –  After a rainy, spring day at The Oaks Golf Links for the first of six State Amateur Qualifiers, seventeen golfers are advancing on to the New Hampshire Amateur Championship presented by Audi Nashua to be held at Portsmouth Country Club in July.  The low round of the day came from Christopher Sirrell of Kingswood Golf Club who carded a 75 to earn medalist honors.
Though he made the turn at three over par, Sirrell was able to keep his back nine to just one over par with three bogeys and two birdies to nab the top spot at this qualifier.  Sirrell will be joined by 16 other golfers from this qualifying site who will all be competing among the top amateur golfers in the Granite State.
Following in close behind and tied for second at this qualifying location are Brett Wilson (The Golf Club of New England), Mathew Gover (Atkinson Resort & CC), and Alec Brunelle (Atkinson Resort & CC).  All three golfers made the cut with a 76 (+5) on the challenging course at The Oaks.  Other familiar names advancing are Bryce Zimmerman (Nashua CC) with a 78 (+7), Brendan O’Sullivan (Derryfield CC) with a 78 (+7) and NHGA Junior Golf Tour member Elliot Wallace (Manchester CC) with a 79.
Those managing to shoot 86 or better at The Oaks Qualifier will find themselves teeing it up at Portsmouth Country Club in July in the state’s premier amateur golf championship.
