Six Tickets Punched to State Amateur Presented by Audi Nashua Out of Eastman Qualifier

June 25th, 2019

Grantham, NH –  For Zach Melcher (Claremont CC), a 73 (+2) was good enough to earn him medalist honors at the New Hampshire Amateur Qualifier presented by Audi Nashua being held at Eastman Golf Links.  He will be joined by five other golfers managing to keep their scores to 79 or better to advance to the state’s premier amateur golf championship.
Melcher had a solid, consistent day out at the Eastman GL State Amateur Qualifier, making three bogeys and one birdie in the round.  Despite making bogey on both par-3’s on the front nine, he did birdie the narrow, par-5 second hole which was playing at around 544 yards.  On his back nine, he scored all pars until the 17th which can prove to be a challenging par-4 with water on the right side, close to the landing zone for tee shots.  Melcher’s 73 was three shots better than the next competitors in the field.
Joining Melcher at Portsmouth CC next month are five other golfers shooting 79 or lower, including Grayson Goulet (Concord CC), Jack Meehan (Hanover CC), Ryan Waring (Concord CC), Tommy Dowell (Laconia CC) and Mike Uhlman (Laconia CC).  All six players will look to make their run in the 116th New Hampshire Championship presented by Audi Nashua.
Eastman Golf Links was playing to around 6,300 yards, providing a challenging test for those looking to move on to the championship proper.  17 golfers started the day with their eyes on a qualifying position, but only those shooting sub-80 scores are moving on.  Those six golfers will head to Portsmouth CC in just under 14 days for the start of the New Hampshire Amateur presented by Audi Nashua.
