Steckowych Headed to U.S. Senior Amateur

Concord, NH –   Portsmouth Country Club member, Craig Steckowych qualified for the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship being held September 17-22, 2016 at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.  He qualified at the New England Country Club Sectional Qualifier on August 31st with a score of three-over par, 74.

After finishing his round at 74 along with four other players, he entered into a playoff to determine the final qualifying spot.  Steckowych won the playoff to advance to the Championship.  He will be joining Paul Quigley (Warren, R.I.), Bob Kearney (Houston, Texas), and Brian Secia (Nantucket, MA) from the New England CC Sectional Qualifier. 
Steckowych will be adding the U.S. Senior Amateur to his already-extensive resume of USGA Championships.  He has made an appearance in the U.S. Amateur three times, the U.S. Mid-Amateur three times, the State Team Championship five times, and the U.S. Senior Open once. 

Steckowych has made a name for himself in New Hampshire having won eight New Hampshire championships, which include the 1990 and 1998 State Amateur, 1991 and 2003 Mid-Amateur, 2000 and 2007 Stroke Play, 2012 Player’s Invitational, and the 2003 Four Ball Championship with his partner Brian Doyle.
