Team New Hampshire Takes Tri-State Victory

September 17th, 2017

Team New Hampshire secured a wire-to-wire victory at the 79th Tri-State Championships hosted by Mount Washington Resort Golf Club. The Granite State team took home 28 points beating the teams from Maine (21 points) and Vermont (14 points). Team New Hampshire saw their four-point day one lead increase to the seven-point margin of the final tally.

All fourteen players for New Hampshire secured at least one full point, with 2017 Mid-Amateur Match Play Champion John DeVito (Passaconaway CC) and nineteen-time NHGA Champion Phil Pleat (Nashua CC) both earning the maximum three points for the weekend.

The victory marked the fourth consecutive win for New Hampshire, the longest stretch by one state since New Hampshire won five consecutive titles from 1990 – 1994. The win marks New Hampshire 47th victory in the 89-year history of the event, winning more than half of the total titles.

The 2018 Tri-States Championship will be held in Vermont. The NHGA would like to thank the staff at Mount Washington Resort Golf Club for their hospitality and their efforts to make the weekend a tremendous success.
