New Hampshire Team Selected for New England Junior Invitational

August 10th, 2018

This Sunday, New Hampshire’s top junior golfers will head to Longmeadow Country Club to take on the other 5 New England states in the 2018 New England Junior Amateur Invitational. The New England Junior Amateur Invitational is an annual 54-hole team and individual stroke play event where the six New England states select 7 junior golfers to compete against one another to determine the region’s top talent.

The players will complete 36 holes of stroke play on Monday, August 13, and 18 holes on Tuesday, August 14, before champions will be crowned. Team scores are calculated by counting the low 5 scores out of the 7 players each round. The team with the lowest 54-hole cumulative total will be named team champion and the individual with the lowest 54-hole total will be named individual champion. New Hampshire finished 5th in last year’s New England Junior Amateur Invitational. Although New Hampshire has never won the event, the team finished runner-up in 2010 and 2011.

The New Hampshire Golf Association is proud to announce this year’s final roster:

Sam Barton:  Barton recently won the 2018 New Hampshire Junior Championship after medaling the stroke play portion with a -2, 68, and navigating through the 16-player match play bracket. He also finished 8th at the 2018 New Hampshire Stroke Play Championship with a 4-day total of even par, 288, and made it to the round of 16 at the 2018 New Hampshire Amateur Championship.

Bryce Zimmerman:  Zimmerman has won 7 times this year on the New Hampshire Junior Tour and made the quarterfinals of the New Hampshire Junior Championship. The Nashua native also won the Junior Division of the 2018 Red Ryan Tournament.

Gunnar Senatore:  Senatore won the 2017 New Hampshire High School Division III Individual Championship as a member of The Derryfield School Golf Team. Senatore also won the 2018 Hoodkroft Junior Open.

Brian Adams:  Adams burst onto the scene in New Hampshire when he finished runner-up to Barton in the final of the 2018 New Hampshire Junior Championship. At the age of 13, Adams is the youngest competitor on Team New Hampshire.

Brennan Hughes:  Hughes made the round of 32 at the 2018 New Hampshire Amateur Championship and was 2nd low junior at the 2018 New Hampshire Stroke Play Championship. Hughes will be joining the Southern New Hampshire University golf program in the Fall.
