NHGA Announces 2015 Schedule

January 26th, 2015

Concord, NH – The 2015 New Hampshire Golf Association tournament schedule has been released.  Competitions will begin on Saturday, May 16th with the Senior Four-Ball at The Overlook and the season will conclude with the Fall Four-Ball at Breakfast Hill Golf Club on Sunday, October 4th.  In between, the NHGA will host eleven championship events, including the 112th New Hampshire Amateur Championship which will be held at historic Mt. Washington GC.  The Donald Ross layout is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015.  Other highlights include a return to Owl’s Nest GC for the New Hampshire Open and Stonebridge CC will host the Mid-Amateur Championship.

One tweak to the 2015 schedule is eligibility requirements being changed for the Tournament of Club Champions.  Any player that has won a club championship at an NHGA club in the last five years is now eligible for the 18-hole event which will be held at Windham CC in July.

The 2015 Adaptive Communications Junior Tour schedule will begin on Thursday, June 25th with the Hoodkroft Junior Open, and will conclude with the Junior Tour Invitational at Portsmouth Country Club on Thursday August 13th.  The Adaptive Communications Junior Tour will see an increase in number of events and hopefully overall participation as well. “We have an additional event in each division of the tour this year, and we are planning on having all of the events at their maximum capacity this summer,” NHGA Director of Junior Golf Greg Howell said. Over 500 rounds were played by boys and girls ages 10-17 last summer, and Howell hopes to see that number increase for 2015. “With the increased number of events and increased exposure statewide we are anticipating a 30% increase in rounds played on the Junior Tour this season.”

NHGA Executive Director Matt Schmidt expressed his excitement on the 2015 schedule and the increase in the number of events for the 2015 season: “We are thrilled to bring additional events to our members to give more players an opportunity to play competitive golf right here in New Hampshire. We couldn’t bring these additional events without the tremendous support we get from both our players and our member clubs.” A total of thirty-one NHGA courses will host at least one competition or Junior Tour event, the most in recent NHGA history.

“To have a third of our member clubs hosting an event this summer really shows the commitment this state is making to golf. We are confident that the 2015 season will be one of the most successful in our long history” Schmidt said.
The NHGA will also expand on its Net Tournament Series program with six events on the schedule in 2015.  Those sites and dates will be released later in the year.
