Opening Round of Inaugural Junior Team Led by Leppert and Tufts

July 30th, 2020

Keene, NH – As the first round of the Inaugural Junior Team Championship comes to a close, the team of Cameron Leppert (Candia Woods) and Nick Tufts (Candia Woods) are leading the field by 2 strokes after they shot an impressive -5, 67.

The Leppert/Tufts team equally contributed to their success today, both Leppert and Tufts carding two birdies. Tufts helped confirm the team’s spot at the top of the leaderboard when he drove the green on hole 18 and holed out for an Eagle.

“We had a pretty solid game plan coming in. Cam is a good par player, so I knew if he could get pars, I could just go after every green I saw, and that led to the Eagle on 18, which really helped us out,” Tufts commented after the round.

Sitting only two strokes back are both the team of Mat Gover (Atkinson Resort and CC) and Noah Leclair (Nashua CC) and the team of Gunnar Senatore (Amherst CC) and Colin McCaigue (Amherst CC) at -3, 69. Both teams were tied with the Leppert/Tufts at the turn.

“It was competitive and probably pushed us to try and make a lot of birdies coming down the stretch,” commented Senatore on being tied through out the round.

Both teams will be keeping up the competitive drive as well as keeping their eyes on Leppert and Tufts as they head into tomorrow’s final round, where the first Junior Team Champions will be crowned.

The final round of the Junior Team Championship will get underway at 8:00AM on Friday, July31st.
